SweetVox: Bring the Vocal One Step Forward

A lot of modern mixes bury the vocal under a loud backing track. SweetVox does one simple thing. Vocals are usually recorded dead center while the band spreads out to the sides, so it splits “center” from “sides,” adds a little sweetness and removes some mud in the center, pulls the sides back a few steps, and puts it all back together.
Try it with a song you already have. The file stays in your browser and goes nowhere. Flip between “Original” and “SweetVox” to compare; the chorus is where you’ll hear it most.
Two limits up front: the kick drum and bass sit in the center too, so they come forward as well, and older recordings with the band mixed in the middle won’t change as much. This rebalances the mix; it doesn’t separate the voice out.
A web page can’t reach the sound coming out of YouTube Music or Spotify. On Windows, you can download the settings file and install the free Equalizer APO so your whole computer runs through the same curve.
